How do I get my Pentax AF200s Flash to work on my Pentax k1000?

Ruler unity snapshot of the horse shoe on the camera but when I take a picture no flash pop up. I set the shutter speed to 60 (where the "orange; x" is identified), the ISO speed match up on flash and camera, I have checked the flash and it works very well, has also brand new batteries. HELP! how do you change the film in a 1978 pentax-m camera?
