Digital SLR information

The main advantages of a digital SLR are sharper photos with more detail and better exposure, and instant picture taking when you press the shutter button. The most important considerations in choosing a digital SLR are the lenses you may own already, the lenses and systems available for the digital cameras you are interested in, and special camera features you need for the kind of photography you do.

Digital

Digital SLR's are not as easy as point and shoot camera's due to them having many more settings for you to learn how to use. Digital SLR cameras are approaching a new stage previously unthinkable. Digital SLR's are big, even bigger than my film SLR.

Most digital SLR's are over USD $1000, but recently there have been some *very* good models released for much less than that. The bottom line: If you're still using a point-and-shoot and have considered upgrading to a digital SLR, now is a good time. Based on my emails and website search engine data, there is a lot of interest in how digital SLRs compare to each other. I should say at the outset that all of these digital SLRs are capable of taking fine pictures. If you are trying to decide which digital SLR to get, this information will get you started. There are still those 35mm and Digital SLR guys out there just like there are those Ford and Chevy guys. At least five manufacturers offer digitalcamcorders that can record still images of 3 megapixels or more, enoughresolution to turn out quality prints at letter size or larger.

The main advantages of an SLR camera over a point-and-shoot digital camera is the fact that you can change lenses and filters whenever you want to. At the top of the digital camera range are digital SLR cameras. In summary, a fantastic technological marvel which, when tamed will convert you to digital forever, just be prepared to start learning again as it is not such a simple switch from film, but well worth it.

Camera

For buyers considering a prosumer camera, a digital SLR is worth considering. SLR means "single lens reflex", and these cameras allow you to see exactly what the camera sees when looking through the viewfinder. One of the issues with Digital SLR camera is the narrowed angle of view. When you first purchase your SLR digital camera you should simply enjoy using it and get a good feel for how to handle it.

Slr

Every digital SLR camera on the market is capable of making the image. We now have the Digital SLR entering a stage of maturity and with a superior image quality to any film camera I've ever used. Summary: The Pentax K100D is an excellent DSLR camera which provides spectacular value.

Pentax

Pentax K110D Nikon D40 In this test the Nikon D40 and Nikon D50 provided very similar results with both cameras delivering well balanced flash exposures. Nikon and Pentax use the Sony sensor which has 2 Megapixels less. Pentax want to let us know that they have a rich history of sensational and ground-breaking products. The Pentax K110D offers a nice clear viewfinder although the viewfinder on the Nikon D40 is better and brighter. Although the Pentax K100D doesn't quite make it to that list just yet, Pentax do clearly show that they are more than able to build excellent cameras. I don't know what algorithm is used but the Pentax Raw converter software will save at larger image sizes and produce really good results.

The Pentax K110D and the Nikon D50 digital SLR are both very good cameras although if you prefer to simply concentrate on getting the shot and having the camera control the settings automatically for you, we feel the Nikon D40 delivers the most consistent results out of the three models we tested. If you're on a budget, either of these and an inexpensive digital SLR are the best value dollar for dollar.
